My Journey to Recovery
On April 22, 2010 God’s plan intersected with mine and brought me to Recovery at IBC with the hope that this would be the place that would heal my family from the trauma and brokenness we were walking through. I came to Recovery with my husband to make sure he came and participated in the program, but I ended up staying for me. I was honestly not ready to look at myself, but Jesus knew this ministry would shed light on my own issues.

Honor the Dishonorable
“Honor thy parents.” My spiritual vagrancy was born within the confines of this commandment. My parents abused me; they still try to. God, what were You thinking? How could You so recklessly insert this directive in with some fundamental commandments? Weren’t You concerned it would fall into the wrong hands and lead to some brutal outcomes?

Experiences help shape us – who we are, what we stand for, what we won’t stand for. For me, I became kinder, more gentle, and gained a greater appreciation for what my husband had and continues to go through battling CML.
