Formation at IBC

Formation Groups exist to become more like Jesus together by practicing the rhythms of a missionary disciple.

The Formation journey begins with table groups meeting on campus for the first module of our curriculum, Foundation, designed to help you grow as a follower of Jesus. After the first 9 weeks, these tables transition to meeting in homes and continue their discipleship journey using the Formation curriculum.

FAQ

Q: What are Formation Groups?
A: Formation Groups are small groups of adults (usually between 8-12 people) who meet together regularly to practice the rhythms of a missionary disciple. This looks like discussions centered on scripture and spiritual formation, encouragement and prayer for one another, and blessing others through mission.

Q: How do I join a Formation Group?
A: Formation Groups begin with a 9-week discipleship experience meeting at IBC. Over these weeks you will grow with God and others learning the big story of the Bible, practicing 5 rhythms of a missionary disciple, and experiencing contexts of spiritual formation. From here, your table becomes your group and you continue on the journey now meeting in homes.

Q: When does the 9-week discipleship experience start?
A: We start the 9-week discipleship experience a few times throughout the year. Registration is announced through our eLetter and Sunday service. Stay tuned!

Q: What if I have already completed the 9-week discipleship experience but I am not in a group?
A: Depending on when you first went through the 9-week discipleship experience, we recommend doing so again as a refresher. If you recently completed this experience, we can connect you with groups looking to add members through our Join an Existing Group process.
