Young Families at IBC is a diverse community of parents navigating life with young kids. We are committed to spiritually forming parents, helping them experience the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in their own lives so they might feel confident and empowered to create spiritually rich environments where their families can flourish and grow in their faith.
Young Families Fall Launch!
Sunday, September 10 • 10:45 am • Adult Ed. A
As parents, we water and nurture our children, but can we actually control their growth? Many parents spend endless amounts of time reading parenting books, listening to podcasts and scouring the pages of Scripture for ways to help their children learn, know, and understand how to process the world. Yet, much of what happens in their minds, hearts, and souls is beyond our control.
The Apostle Paul made an insightful point about the nature of spiritual growth when he said that it is neither the one who plants or waters that actually causes a seed to become a fruitful plant. It is God who gives the growth (1 Cor 3).
Knowing the difference between being the gardener versus the Creator is essential to navigating the tensions between control and freedom in parenting. Parenting is best understood as providing the best, nurturing environment for growth, the good soil, as opposed to actually controlling the process of growth.
Register and join us starting September 10 as we learn what it means to trust God in the early years of parenting.
Gathering Dates: September 10, 24 October 8, 22 November 5, 19 December 3
