A New Discipleship Experience and New Fall Worship Service Times

For the last several months, the leadership of IBC has been praying about and talking through two significant ministry changes for Fall 2016. In this process, as in all things, our desire has been to follow God where he leads as we serve his church.

That desire brought us to the launch of a whole new adult discipleship initiative for IBC. We’re going to unveil more about the details of our new discipleship strategy in September as part of our upcoming Vision series, but for now let’s talk about Foundation. On September 18 we’re launching the beta cohort of a 9-week discipleship experience called Foundation. This is unlike anything we’ve ever done before, but we’re convinced God wants to use Foundation to transform the men and women of IBC. You can find out more here.

Our staff, pastors, and elders are excited to be a part of the first Foundation cohort this Fall along with many of you. In fact, we need a significant number of our key leaders involved in Foundation in order for this new strategy to go forward effectively. Because Foundation will meet Sundays at 5:00 p.m., we decided to take away the 5:00 p.m. worship service from our schedule, meaning we’re moving to two worship services: 9:00 and 10:45 a.m. on Sundays beginning September 4.

We’re so grateful to those of you who’ve made the 5:00 p.m. worship service a part of your weekly rhythm and a special, life-giving community. We hope you can join us for worship Sunday mornings, and we also hope you’ll prayerfully consider being a part of Foundation. With that in mind, we’re saving some seats in our beta cohort for 5:00 p.m. service attenders — we desperately need your presence and feedback on this new discipleship journey.
