2024 In Review

IBC Family,

As we close 2024, we pause to reflect on God’s incredible work in and through Irving Bible Church. This year, we’ve seen growth and transformation like never before. Our in-person and online worship gatherings together have grown by 20% since 2022. A total of 52 people chose to make the public display of their faith through baptism. We welcomed new members, and nearly 100 newcomers attended Explore to learn more about life at IBC. We launched a new brand, crafted a new mission statement, and clarified our plan for the future. And we continued to make strides toward becoming a fully multi-ethnic church: More than 40% of our members are now people of color, reflecting the global Kingdom of God.

These numbers and the numbers below tell the story of lives transformed by Jesus.
We are excited to continue the work God has started, moving into 2025 with hope, anticipation, and a deep desire to see more people experience his love.

A New Brand

Last year we re-envisioned our logo and brought back the Bible (part of the original IBC logo) in a fresh, new way. A new brand, redesigned website, and improved signage — including our name on the building exterior — are all steps to help us better reach our neighbors.

Alpha

2024 marked a significant milestone as we launched our first ever Alpha session in Spanish, providing a safe space for more men and women to explore their faith in their native language. A total of 36 people attended our four Alpha courses throughout the year, experiencing God in profound ways and within the context of community.

Arise

IBC continues to bless and be blessed by families with special needs through our Arise ministry. Our dedicated Arise space is full of life on Sunday mornings, as even more families come to IBC searching for belonging and care for their unique needs. In 2024, we served more than 50 families through our monthly Arise Night Out, giving caregivers much needed respite and an evening of fun for their kids.

Discipleship

The launch of our first Discipleship Cohort in the fall of 2024 saw more than 50 men and women commit to deepen their walk with God through a 10-month journey of holistic discipleship. In addition, our six Bible Communities provided more than 200 people weekly opportunities to engage with Scripture in a community-focused setting. And in an effort to ensure that everyone in our body has access to support, our dedicated team of deacons cared for more than 400 people walking through difficult situations or simply looking to get more connected at IBC.

Formed Podcast

Our podcast, Formed, produced 31 new episodes in 2024, covering topics from the Olympic opening ceremonies to what the modern church gets wrong. We received more than 50 listener-submitted questions throughout our Let’s Talk About It sermon series in the fall, asking questions on politics, sexuality, mental health, and more. Curious what our most-listened-to episode of 2024 was? You can listen to it here;

Hope & Healing

Last year, we deepened our commitment to offering care and support through our Care Groups. From re-launching Shelter From the Storm (a women’s sexual abuse recovery ministry) to offering unique workshops like Faith Quakes, we saw lives transformed. Our Care Group volunteers led 163 total meetings, serving more than 120 individuals in 2024. Our Recovery ministry focused on building deeper connections and supporting people along their journey to sobriety. The group saw more newcomers join and continue to find freedom in Christ through sponsor connections and the 12-step process.

Kids

Last year, our Kids ministry continued to thrive, with 100 committed volunteers working to welcome hundreds of children each week — more than 10,000 total check-ins in 2024! Through special events like monthly Movie Nights, Easter Path, and Vacation Bible School, kids birth through fifth grade encountered Christ and grew in their faith. We welcomed an amazing new kids pastor in 2024, and are moving into 2025 trusting God to raise up more volunteers to support our growing ministry.

Marriage

In 2024, the Marriage ministry introduced Rooted, an 11-week course for couples looking to strengthen their marriage. Additionally, our Date Nights — featuring a country two-step and a trivia night — served more than 100 people. Through these events and our pre-marriage mentorship program, the ministry provided married, engaged, and dating couples with fun and meaningful ways to grow together and connect with others.

Medical Clinic

The Kinwest Medical Clinic, located just inside the Cuppa entrance on IBC’s campus, continues to serve uninsured and under-resourced families in the Irving community. The clinic launched a new electronic records system after four years of effort, allowing our providers to better serve their patients. Thanks to more than 700 volunteer hours, approximately 500 patients received care in 2024.

Men’s

The Men’s ministry experienced significant growth last year, engaging a diverse community of over 300 men in Bible studies, sporting events, and mission trips. Our global partnership with Emprende provided an opportunity for two teams to travel to Honduras and Guatemala to support local entrepreneurs through training and grants. Plus, a visit from author John Tyson and our annual Brotherhood event invited men deeper into community and intentionality in their spiritual walks.

Missions

From collecting new books for Townsell Elementary to donating more than 1,000 backpacks to Irving students, we joined together in 2024 to bless our neighbors here and around the world. The ESL ministry served an average of 30 students per week, representing more than 20 countries! We also had the opportunity to host global leaders like Mary Jeanne from the DRC and the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, as well as send teams to Honduras to share the gospel. The economic climate of 2024 presented new challenges, but we were able to distribute more than $100,000 in funds to help meet emergency needs of local families, plus connect others with more holistic care through strategic local partnerships. Our congregation generously provided families with Christmas gifts through our Angel Tree in December, and even more families received support through our on-site Care Closet and monthly Mobile Food Pantry distributions.

Women's

Our Women’s ministry continued to thrive last year, with a strong commitment to deepening relationships with Christ. We hosted multiple Bible studies with participation from over 500 women, plus raised more than $10,000 for our global partners through our change collection and Rejoice raffle. Over the summer we launched a unique six-week study on the book How To Heal Our Racial Divide, giving more than 60 women from all different backgrounds an opportunity to lament, learn, and grow together. We are especially grateful for the women who continue to serve and support the ministry week after week.

Worship

The Worship ministry remained steadfast in creating sacred spaces for connection and renewal throughout 2024. Special events like Easter, Pentecost, and Christmas Eve featured powerful music and communal celebration. The worship team’s partnerships with individual ministries created unique worship experiences throughout the week while improvements in our audio system and stage design contributed to a deeper sense of worship on Sunday mornings.

Young Adults

The Young Adults ministry had a busy year, engaging in deep discussions, serving others, and growing together in community. A team of 10 young adults served alongside youth in Honduras, working with local organizations to provide clean water and the gospel message. We also hosted a meaningful Senior Sunday for over 100 graduates and their families, plus mailed care packages to keep first-year college students connected in community during a pivotal time in their lives.

Young Families

In our second year of the Young Families ministry, we continued to foster connection among parents by discussing spiritual rhythms and how to navigate changing relationships. Over 40 families of kids age 5 and under were served through bi-weekly meet-ups and a fall gathering. 2024 also saw the launch of MomComm, a new ministry for the moms of children birth through third grade. More than 40 women gathered monthly for support, encouragement, and connection as they navigate the unique challenges of motherhood.

Youth

Thanks to increased volunteer support, our Youth ministry had a powerful year of growth — officially outgrowing the Youth room and moving Sunday morning Bible study to the Commons. Summer camp provided an opportunity for middle and highschoolers to embrace their purpose, with 44 students expressing a desire for salvation or baptism. Mission trips to Honduras and Navajo Nation allowed students to encounter God in new ways, while our Wednesday night worship gatherings and small groups fostered a deep sense of belonging.

You made 2024 special

To everyone who served, gave, and prayed in 2024 — thank you for making it a year to remember.
