Learning to Be Human

Pursuing Jesus, Wrestling with Tension, Finding Our Humanity Again

It feels like we’re devolving, turning into something feral, less human. We’re quick to discredit, dismiss, and destroy one another. Why? Because we disagree, because it’s our right, because we can. Each day our humanity splits and divides and shatters into unrecognizable pieces. What does it mean to be human? It’s harder to know these days. But a perfect picture of humanity does exist? Jesus, the Son of God, entered into our world at a time when tension, violence, and division were commonplace. He came to us and showed what it means to be human. Jesus is what it means to be human. Learning to be human, means learning to be like Jesus.

For the next year, we’re going to learn what it means to be human by following Jesus through the book of Luke. Join other young adults as we pursue Jesus, wrestle with tension, and find our humanity again.

Join us Thursday Nights at 7 pm in the Commons at Irving Bible Church.

What to Expect on Thursday Nights

Worship Nights

We begin each new series this year with a worship gathering. We'll praise God together in song, listen to a message that will set the tone for the entire series, spend time in prayer, and hear a testimony from a young adult in our community.

Roundtables

Thursday nights throughout the series we'll gather at tables. We'll hear a brief message and spend the majority of our time discussing the topic. The tables are intentionally small with 6-8 young adults. They are designed to go deep as soon as they begin. A key feature of these groups are weekly challenges and exercises that move the content from the table into daily life.
